Fight Temptation the way Jesus Did

We designed Rhema because we strongly believe that to overcome life’s temptations we must stop relying on our own strength or willpower and, instead, rely on God to win the battle for us. As evidenced by Jesus during his time on this earth, one of the best and most effective ways to overcome temptation is to use the Word of God to make a stand against the devil and his influence in our lives. When tempted by Satan in the desert, Jesus consistently used scripture to refute the devil’s lies: ”Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Matthew 4:1-4). Jesus was tempted three times by the devil and each time he responded with the words “It is written,” followed by a specific scripture that countered temptation and revealed God’s truth.  Just like Jesus, we can use the word of God to fight off Satan’s attacks.

Rhema follows Jesus’ model for overcoming sin and temptation by placing relevant scripture and powerful sermons at your fingertips. Many of the verses and sermons found here are the same ones that helped the founder of Rhema overcome some of his own deepest struggles. According to the Word of God, they can and will help you too.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (Corinthians 10:3-5)

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deuteronomy 11:18 - 19)
